Written task introduction

Question 1:
How could the text be read and interpreted differently by two different readers?

When reading the article "for women under 30, most Births Occur Outside of Marriage", I was able to easily spot two different interpretations to the article, which these interpretations depend on the readers ideologies when reading the article. If the article was locked from a feminist ideology and the reader interpreted the text accordingly the purpose of the text would be to demonstrate how woman are working continuous hours to provide a suitable life for their child, thus are capable of taking care of children at such a young age without having the power of men over them. However, the other Way this article can be interpreted is through the views of people again young single woman, these people see that young woman are ruining their life and future to take care of a child solely. Also, they see this as a big issue since it’s hard to take care of on planned children without being in a committed relationship. Therefore, through the different interpretations of this article it is evident that no matter what perspective this article is read in different reactions are triggered based on how the ideological backgrounds of the readers show different values and beliefs in this concern within society.

Question 2:
If the test had been written in a different time or place or language or for a different audience, how and why might it differ?

News media has been around for more than 40 years, there are four articles within news media written in different times places languages or four different audiences demonstrate the cultural, social and religious ideologies. In the specific article, it would be against the traditional values and cultural values of woman are young age to have children outside of marriage back in the early 1900 whereas nowadays it is common to see woman giving birth and taking care of children on their own without being in a formal marriage. Therefore, articles with the news media try to determine how the public thinks within the society, which is reflected through the journalists diction, which is connected to bias by diction and tone.

Comments

  1. WWW: The thesis statements are good as they establish an argument for the texts and the prompts. The second question intro is good as it revolves around the text and the information on it.
EBI: The first intro is a little confusing, so focusing it down would be good and proof reading it would make it better.

  2. You introduce your article well, but I feel that you could format your introductory arguments better so that it fits the format of an introduction better. I also feel that you could benefit from an extremely clear thesis statement.
